Privacy Policy
Cave Recorder (caverec) runs locally on your machine. We operate no backend servers and do not collect, receive, store, process, or share any personal information or user data of any kind.
No Data Collection
We do not collect personal identifiers, account credentials, usage analytics, crash reports, telemetry, cookies, or tracking information. Neither the Cave Recorder desktop application nor this website uses any analytics services, advertising trackers, or third-party data processors.
Local Operation & User Files
All audio recordings, Projects, Sessions, Takes, Passes, live Prints, Mixdowns, and configuration files created in Cave Recorder are processed and stored locally on your device. If you explicitly configure optional cloud synchronization to your own Google Drive, all credentials, tokens, and audio files remain strictly on your device and are transferred directly between your machine and Google's API servers without passing through any servers operated by us.
Google Drive Integration & Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)
When you optionally connect your Google Drive account inside the Cave Recorder desktop application, the local application requests Google Drive API access (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file or, when configured for cross-account linked remote project folders, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive) solely to read, write, and synchronize the Projects, Sessions, Takes, Passes, live Prints, and Mixdowns you explicitly create, link, or configure, and queries your Google account email address (/drive/v3/about?fields=user(emailAddress)) solely to display the connected account badge in your local interface.
OAuth 2.0 tokens and credentials are stored exclusively on your local computer (~/Library/Application Support/caverec/gdrive_oauth_tokens.json on macOS, ~/.config/caverec/gdrive_oauth_tokens.json on Linux, with 0600 permissions on macOS and Linux, or %APPDATA%\caverec\gdrive_oauth_tokens.json on Windows) and communicate directly between your machine and Google's API servers (googleapis.com) over HTTPS. We (the developer of Cave Recorder) operate no intermediary servers and never receive, store, view, or transmit your Google account data, OAuth tokens, or audio files.
Cave Recorder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Third-Party Sharing
Because we do not collect or have access to any user data, no information is ever sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties.
Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated in the future, any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
